Drugs are natural or synthetic substances which when taken into a living body alter the body functioning and are used to treat or prevent a disease 157]. Drugs cause temporary changes in the body thereby correcting imbalances. Drugs have been used since ages for the treatment of different types of diseases through various means like oral, nasal, transdermal, etc. 84]. Drugs can be natural as well as synthetic depending on their source, however, the nature based drugs are preferred to synthetic ones. Nature has always been a source of various products having medicinal properties. The nature based products are generally preferred due to their better biocompatibility and non-toxicity compared to synthetic based sources. A single natural component may demonstrate various medicinal properties leading to an appropriate candidate for various ailments. One such multi-applicable drug of natural origin is curcumin, on which various investigations have been done and is continuing as a hot topic of research today.
