This month’s featured reader is Tyler Despenza. As a poet and New Orleans native, Ty’s primary influences have been jazz, superstition, and local colloquialisms. She received her B.A. in English from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2017 and now works for a local nonprofit. Her works have surfaced in university literary magazines, some of which she has also been an editor. Though she is proud to be from New Orlean’s 13th ward, Ty now lives on the corner of Flood St. in the Lower 9th Ward with her large black labradors, Parish and DeLille.

We host a monthly poetry series with featured reader(s) and open mic, that is (usually) on the 2nd or 3rd Monday of the month at Blue Cypress Books on 8123 Oak Street.
