The editor, P.S. Falla, has based the English vocabulary primarily on the latest editions of the Concise Oxford Dictionary and the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English. He has prepared the Russian equivalents and translations with the aid of native speakers and up-to-date Russian lexicographical sources such as the New English-Russian Dictionary and its Supplement. The dictionary focuses on the correct translation of colloquial and idiomatic language, as well as providing glosses on English words to ensure selection of the right Russian equivalents. It also includes familiar or important Americanisms and a listing of personal and geographical names.
