About the Author


Roland A.Lange served in the Air Force at the end of the Korean War and traveled throughout East Asia, an experience that fostered a lifelong interest in East Asian Languages. He was an Associate Professor of Japanese Language and Linguistics at Columbia University, New York and taught at UCLA, and, for a brief period, at Cornell University.

Nobuo Akiyama is a professorial Lecturer of Japanese Language at The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University.
