Description
To any admirer of the Gloucester fishing schooner, the name of Thomas F. McManus is immediately associated with the highest development of the type. More avid students know well of his efforts to improve their speed and safety by the development of new designs such as the Indian Headers, the knockabouts, and the semi-knockabouts. Impressive as these accomplishments were, they were but a few parts of a wonderful social and professional mosaic which linked Tom's life to his many family members and friends who shaped, assisted, or brought to fruition his aspirations.
