Cheng Zhangcan is a celebrated author, historian, and professor of literature at Nanjing University. He holds a Bachelor of History from Peking University and a Ph.D. in Literature from Nanjing University. As a recipient of the prestigious Changjiang Scholar Award, he is recognized as one of China’ s leading scholars in the field of literary studies. Zhangcan has published over thirty books, including the acclaimed Ancient Swallows: Nanjing, the Legendary City of Literature, Mountain-Encircled Homeland: Tales of Old and New Nanjing, and The Tides of Stone City.
