Description
A strong counseling department will support the activities of the school. First, parents will know who to contact to have their questions answered. Second, students will be able to receive critical emotional and social support. Third, staff and administration will be better able to deal with the other daily activities of school business and not worry about kids being in the right classes or teachers feel like they have no support with students.
Throughout the pages, you will find white space or lined areas that have been put there so each will have the opportunity to take notes and answer the questions asked. For those who are going into an internship or practicum, you can take this book and work through some of the scenarios with your site supervisor that may have another view on the situation.
As you go through this book, keep in mind that some information will be data-driven while others will come from testimonials of other counselors as well as my knowledge after 17 years of experience in the public/private school systems within different school districts. In those years, I have held positions including school counselor, head counselor, lead internship counselor, dean of students, athletic director, and assistant principal. I will be sharing my interpretation along with those of other counselors with more than 25 years of experience.
