About the Author

Joseph Whitaker published the first edition of his Almanack on 23rd December 1868. Volume one was 370 pages long well received. Published by Whitaker's & Sons until  1997, it was then acquired by The Stationery Office until 2003, and then A & C Black, which later became a subsidiary of Bloomsbury Publishing in 2011. Rebellion Publishing Ltd. acquired Whitaker's in 2020.

"Whitaker's is the place for things that everybody needs but nobody publishes - nobody else." -- Matthew Parris
