Personal preparation is important because it helps you draw near to the Holy Spirit who will instruct you in the way to pray for the individual in front of you. Regardless if you are the prayer warrior or the intercessor, relying on the Holy Spirit to guide your prayer for the individual before you is crucial.

Holy Spirit: As you draw near and become familiar with the voice or prompting of the Holy Spirit you must first learn to listen and familiarize yourself with the Spirit's voice or method of prompting you as an individual. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity. We don't hear much about the Holy Spirit in mainstream teachings or conversation.
