Development of an individual as a civic being is influenced by the variety of factors both positive and negative. There are many influences such as substance abuse, internet abuse, sexual risk taking, illegal behavior, risky driving and materialism etc. that negatively affect developmental outcome throughout the life span. Affluenza is one of such influences which is reckoning the lives of not only children but also the adolescents and even adults.

Robert Kennedy rightly stated "World demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imaginativeness and innovation, a predominance of courage over timidity, and the appetitive for adventure over the life of easy". It implies that youth are the building blocks of human, social, economic, political and cultural development of any society, culture and nation. Census report have revealed that youth between the age of 15 and 24 years constitute over one sixth of the whole population of the world, who are expected to develop and possess a sense of responsibility and orientation for self-actualization so that healthy and achievement oriented societies and cultures can be developed. Youthful periods is the time when a young mind can transform and translate it's inventive, innovative, imaginative and achievement capabilities into do asymptotic form, but unfortunately health survey across the globe in general and developed nations in particular have revealed that about 7 million youngsters, one in four adolescence are vulnerable or at paramount risk for having serious problems at home, in school or in their residential vicinity or community because being captured and enslaved by libidinal, hedonistic and affluence seeking values and lifestyle in contrast to their cultural values.
