Diving into the social and theological tensions alive in sixteenth-century London neighborhoods, this book uncovers what may have been Shakespeare’s answer to a world fraught with political and religious controversy.

Praise For…

"All great literature is ultimately about the deeper themes of the human condition, and at some level, about spirituality as well. John Norton's "Killing Physicians" is a insightful and engaging work which ties Shakespeare's works to the thinking of the Reformation theologians whose content was being studied at the time. A highly informative and thought-provoking book, and highly recommended."
