Coordination is an important function in the building process. Recent research has shown that poor or inadequate construction site coordination is often the best that can be found on most construction sites. Yet this critical aspect of construction management is generally overlooked in construction management texts and instruction. The purpose of this book is to provide that missing guidance on how to successfully coordinate and manage construction projects. It offers an overview of the strategic planning of construction projects, and site logistics--from initial launch, on through procurement, contract management, and the general project management aspects of completing a construction project on time and on budget. It covers everything from risk management and safety management to proper handling of construction documentation. It highlights different construction processes required to enhance their practical performance on specific construction projects, and to further the construction industry in general. Dr. Ezeldin is a professor and chair of construction engineering at the American University in Cairo. Dr. Ezeldin has published two books, six chapters in books, and more than 85 referred journal papers, and papers in conference proceedings. Dr. Ezeldin is a licensed professional engineer in the USA and his professional experience has encompassed a varied range of activities, including consultation for engineering and project management, specialized training, academic teaching, and highly technical funded research. He has also served as an international expert for the World Bank, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and The United Nations Development Programme.
