INTRODUCTION

Life is full of psychological stress at present, we live in a world that time passes

so fast and under these conditions technology made the human to be active at all times. for

success in a changing world and full of stress there is a need for forces that protect humans

against these stresses and pressures, one of them is emotional intelligence( Hein, 2002),

he realizes that emotional intelligence can contain emotions and balances between feelings and

logic so that it bring us happiness. We are living in an era when are everyday needs and desires

for luxury, comfort and indulgences have crossed all limits. Where needs of our young children are

compensated with material objects but we as adults usually tend to forget that material

wealth did not seem to satisfy the deeper hunger what feeds the inner happiness. In Dr.Martin

Luther King's words, "we are judging success by the index of our salaries or by the

size of our automobiles rather than by the quality of our services and our

relationship to humanity". The fact is that an increasing number of children entering

school are cognitively and emotionally unprepared to learn. Educators today are confronted with

the challenge of strong public expectations concerning academic performance and

diminishing internal resources to do a good job. Our schools function against this

backdrop of social disarray that tries the best of us. Instead of fostering meaning

discourse, tolerance of divergent thinking, and the opportunity to get to know

ourselves and each other, schools today look more like what social psychologists Alfie

Kohn calls "giant test prep centers". The deeper questions of life have been put on the back

burner. As educators, we are somewhat aware of this void, yet we are not sure what to do about it.

What is it young people need to know to facilitate the change and growth that would maximize

their greatest potential for living together in this millennium? Students need classrooms

where they can construct their own meaning,
