Description
Clinical psychoanalytical practices allow physicians to understand the difficulties that victims have endured. Through these practices, clinicians can help guide the afflicted toward a path of forgiveness. In turn, mental health professionals are granted access to the psyche of those they wish to help. The collaboration between clinicians and trauma survivors has attested to the difficulty in reaching the stage of forgiveness. Survivors must address all negative feelings associated with aggression, shame, and the resistance to who we are as individuals, in order to heal. In this work, we discuss the differences and similarities between forgiveness and repairing inflicted damage. It tackles the importance of forgiveness through psychological help, specifically through psychoanalytical practices.
